This past week I had the opportunity to visit the new Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico, along with 35 other Macaroni KID publishers. Initially, I was a little nervous, being relatively new and not knowing any of the other publishers, I took a chance and booked the trip. I am so glad I did. It was a fantastic experience, and this resort did not disappoint.
The author's stay at Nickelodeon Riviera Maya was complimentary for the purposes of this review, but the opinions are her own.
Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya is about a 30-minute ride from the airport and sits in the middle of a nature preserve. They even grow many fresh fruits and vegetables on the property. It was some of the best fruit I have ever had! So fresh and sweet!
This all-inclusive resort is family-friendly and completely Nickelodeon-themed. There is not one detail missed here. There are 280 rooms, each with its own personal swim-out. They even have two bathrooms! So, there will be no fighting over who gets the bathroom first!
I was most excited about Aqua Nick, the 6-acre water park! There are several waterslides for the adventure seekers, two lazy rivers, and a section for smaller swimmers. My favorite slide had to be the Bowl Blaster. I don’t think I’ve ever screamed so much in my life.
There is no shortage of places to eat at Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya. The resort has six themed restaurants, including a burger joint themed after the 90s movie "Good Burger." The best part is the ice cream truck in the middle of the restaurant. There is also an Italian restaurant themed after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles named Piazza. However, one of my favorites had to be the breakfast at Le Spatula. There were many options, from pizza waffles, omelets, freshly squeezed juices, and even made-to-order smoothies.
On our first night, we attended the Slime Time Live show, where audience members got the opportunity to participate in the show and even get slimed.
In the morning we were able to attend the character breakfast, where we were visited by Sponge Bob, Dora the Explorer, and even PAW Patrol. The kids in the room loved it! It was very interactive, and several of us danced with the characters.
The night before we left, we attended a Glow Party at the Aqua Nick outdoor area. There was face painting, popcorn, and lots of dancing!
The Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya is not just about the kids — parents, there is a ton for you too. For starters, there is Club Nick. You can drop off the little ones and enjoy some adult time at the Bikini Bottom Bar or even head to the spa. I was able to sneak in a massage during some of our free time, and it was AMAZING. If you and your family need a vacation, this is your sign to book the trip.
