Summer is here! Like most families this is the time for travel. With airline prices surging a quick day trip is a more appealing option. Luckily there are tons of places to visit from Gulfport and beyond that are all with a 2 hour or less drive!
To make planning a little easier, we’ve put together a list of a few places to explore.
Louisiana
New Orleans - While New Orleans is typically thought of as a party city, there's a ton of stuff to do for the whole family. On any given weekend you can find a festival going on. If you're looking for some indoor fun the Louisiana Children’s Museum is perfect. Other options include the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium.
Baton Rouge - Another great option for families in Louisiana is Baton Rouge! Families can spend time exploring the Louisiana Art & Science Museum, Knock Knock Children’s Museum, or BREC Baton Rouge Zoo. In the mood for a swim? Head over to Blue Bayou Water Park with the "Land of the Giants", Wave Pool, Lazy River including 16 water attractions and a Kids section.
Alabama
Mobile - One of the oldest cities on the Gulf Coast. You'll find museums and attractions showcasing everything from fine art to Mardi Gras, and history to science. This historically rich city is a great destinations for families.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach - If the beach is what your looking for head down to Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. Alabama's Gulf Coast has beaches with miles of sugar white sand, clean waves lapping and coastal breezes in the air. Looking for a thrill head over to OWA theme park where you can find 23 rides and attractions at the Tropic Falls Theme Park and explore a year-round tropical paradise in the Tropic Falls Indoor Water Park.
