Carnival Season has officially begin on the coast and that means it's time for king cake!!
The name “king cake” comes from the Biblical story of the three kings who bring gifts to Baby Jesus. A cross between coffee cake and a cinnamon roll, king cakes are topped with icing and the signature yellow, green and purple – the colors of Mardi Gras -- and is frequently packed with fruit fillings and decadent cream cheeses. Hidden within the cake is a special surprise: a plastic king cake baby which is thought to bring the person who finds it good luck. There is also the tradition that the person who finds the baby must bring the next king cake.
